BenQ Joybook S35B CULV notebook goes on sale

thumb_Joybook_S35B_1BenQ has started selling its 13.3-inch CULV based Joybook S35B in Taiwan and it should start shipping in other parts of the world shortly. What sets it apart from many other CULV notebooks is the massive 8-cell battery which BenQ claims gives the S35B a massive 11 hours battery life.

Feature wise you're looking at an Intel Pentium Processor SU4100 which is clocked at 1.3GHz and has 2MB of L2 cache. The chipset is the standard GS45 chipset which is found on all CULV notebooks. You also get 2GB of DDR3 1,066MHz memory and a 320GB 5,400rpm SATA hard drive.

The display is LED backlit and is rated at 220nits for brightness. Other features include 802.11b/g/n WiFi, Bluetooth 2.1 with EDR, HDMI output, one eSATA connector, three USB 2.0 ports, Gigabit Ethernet, a memory card reader, a 1.3 Megapixel webcam and a D-sub connector.

The design isn't anything out of the ordinary and BenQ has stuck with a traditional keyboard rather than going with the popular chicklet type keyboards. The S35B measures 328x239x23mm (WxDxH) at its thickest part and weighs in at a fairly portly 1.85kg, but the 8-cell battery seems like a fair trade-off in this case. The S35B comes with Windows 7 home premium and it retails for about €515 ($764) in Taiwan.
