HP launches Mini 311 netbook

thumb_hp_311_1The HP Mini 311 netbook with Nvidia ION LE graphics that we wrote about here is no official. There's very little additional information that is worth talking about, as the specs were pretty much leaked in their entirety, but there are still a few little things of interest.

First up is the fact that "Streaming HD video playback not currently supported", so forget about being able to watch YouTube HD video on the Mini 311 for the time being. In HP's defence, this is more of an Adobe Flash issue than something to do with poor hardware in the Mini 311.

Then of course it's that little matter of cost and HP has priced the Mini 311 at a very affordable $399 (€273), but this is listed as a "starting at" price, so there might be some different SKU's here with varying pricing.

From the pictures we can see that it's using the typical HP netbook keyboard rather than the more popular chicklet type, but we don't have a problem with the HP netbook keyboards as they're generally quite good. We're also happy to see that HP has but the touchpad buttons at the bottom rather that on the sides.

HP hasn't put a lot of details about the Mini 311 in its press release, so we'll have to go with the details from the leak for now until the actual product page goes live. HP has put up a pre-order page for those of you living in the US, which you can find here
