MSI launches Wind U110 Eco, promises 15 hour endurance
MSI has launched the Wind U110 Eco, a quite pricey netbook which promises to deliver impressive battery life without sacrificing much in terms of performance. This is not the first time MSI launched a netbook optimized for increased battery life.
You probably recall the Wind U115 Hybrid, which featured a hybrid storage concept, with an 8GB solid state system drive included alongside the 160GB hard drive to offer improved battery efficiency and performance.

The U110 doesn't feature an SSD, but it still manages to offer impressive battery life. MSI is promising up to 15 hours of endurance on a 9-cell battery, and this should be plenty for any consumer. It is based on Intel's Atom Z530 processor, has 1GB of memory, a 160GB hard drive and a 10-inch 1,024x600 matte screen.
The main drawback of the U115 was its high price which could be blamed on the SSD. The new U110 is somewhat cheaper, but at $429 (€290) in the US it is still quite costly for a netbook. In spite of that, consumers who need a full day of computing on a single charge will probably be more than happy to dish out some extra cash and save themselves the misery of carrying extra batteries around.
