MSI officially launches AMD Neo-based X-Slim X410

thumb_x410_2Shortly after announcing shipment of its first AMD Neo-based notebook, MSI has launched another AMD machine. This time around it's not a Wind-series netbook, but a sleek X-Slim series notebook, the X410.

The X410 features an LED backlit 14-inch 1,366x768 glare display, packed in a sleek 2.5cm thick body weighing just 1.5kg, making it one of the lightest 14-inch notebooks on the market. It's based on AMD's Athlon Neo MV-40 which is clocked at 1.6GHz and paired up with AMD's RS690E+SB600 chipset. It's a shame that MSI didn't go for the newer M780G which offers vastly superior graphics performance.

The base version packs 2GB of memory and 320GB of storage, but you should be able to get 4GB and 500GB on pricier versions.MSI hasn’t revealed the price yet, but according to some reports, the X410 could end up priced under €500 ($736), making a rather affordable alternative to the Intel-based ultrathins.

MSI supplies a 4-cell battery as standard with an optional 8-cell unit, but you shouldn't expect great battery life, as AMD's Neo platform is not as power efficient as Intel's CULV. In spite of that, there should be no shortage of takers, as you simply can’t get anything like it for anywhere near €500 ($736).
