Palm Pixi CPU specs revealed

Details of the processor in the recently announced Palm Pixi has finally made its way online thanks to Qualcomm who has announced the specifications of the MSM7627 processor. It's clocked faster than expected and it offers some potentially interesting features.

For starters the MSM7627 is clocked at a fairly nippy 600MHz which is better than all of the Android devices on the market today and it even bests most Windows Mobile devices. It offers support for 1xEV-DO Rev. A and HSDPA 7.2Mbps/HSUPA 5.76Mbps as well as GSM. We don't expect to see a global version of this handset, as outside of the US there's little incentive to add EV-DO support.

Other features include a 320MHz application DSP for multimedia supporting full 30 fps WVGA encode/decode, a 200MHz hardware-accelerated 3D graphics core supporting OPEN GL 2.0, support for a high-resolution camera and an integrated GPS.

It looks like the Qualcomm processor handles most of the functionality of the Palm Pixi which should make it a fairly affordable handset which is what everyone is hoping for. Some additional details can be found here
