Samsung's Armani handset gets previewed
Phone Arena has gotten some hands on time with Samsung's new Armani handset. There's still a lot that doesn't get revealed about this new handset, but the good news is that the display does indeed have WVGA (800x480 pixels) resolution.
The handset measures 118x58x16.4mm (HxWxD) which makes it about the same size as the HTC Touch Pro2. There's no word on weight, except that due to the metal inlay around the edges of the handset, it's heavy, whatever this compares to.
Still no word on processor or memory beyond the 8GB of built in storage memory. The only thing that was revealed about the network support is that it's a world phone that operates on at least the 1,900MHz 3G band in the US, although we can only guess that this also means that it operates on the 2,100MHz and possibly the 900 or 850MHz bands as well.
Samsung has done some tweaks to the software UI as well and a fairly innovative feature is the option to set up a home screen for work and one for personal usage. The device that Phone Arena got to play with was running Windows Mobile 6.1, so it's hard to draw any conclusions based on the software features as yet.
